1900 wedding bookings in Cyprus and Greece via the innovative online platform

Following the resounding success in the Cypriot and Greek wedding tourism markets, the Cypriot innovative global wedding tourism platform,, is now extending its network to two additional promising markets: Mexico and the Dominican Republic. The training of local tourism businesses in both countries has already began, and by the end of 2017, it is expected that civil ceremony venues from both Latin American countries will be incorporated into the platform, giving prospective couples the chance to find available dates at their desired venue while carrying out their booking quickly and easily. coordinates and automates the entire booking process, validating a civil ceremony date and relieving individuals from the time-consuming bureaucratic processes of the past. Recognizing the many benefits of the platform, an increasing number of wedding destinations have shown interest in being a part of the online initiative, aimed at simplifying the relevant procedures while increasing the wedding tourism flow and ensuing revenue.
With the participation of hundreds of hotel groups, other wedding venues and municipalities across Cyprus and Greece, 1900 bookings have been conducted for 2018 and 2019 in both countries from the 14 th of March 2017 until today. June 2017 marked the start of the first civil ceremonies conducted through the automated platform, while the number of bookings is increasing daily, as more and more couples and wedding planners discover the site.
As a Cypriot patent, it has been embraced by local authorities and the tourism industry on the island, recognizing the new prospects it offers the local tourism product. Almost all municipalities and hotels in Cyprus involved in wedding tourism partake in the initiative while enjoying important benefits, notably saving time and resources, facilitating the collaboration between relevant stakeholders, and increasing their revenue. Ayia Napa currently wears the wedding tourism crown, with approximately 500 bookings through the platform, from the 14 th of March 2017 until today, followed by the municipalities of Paphos and Geroskipou, whereas at regional level Pafos region is at the top of the list with 800 bookings.
Speaking about this achievement, Nasos Hadjigeorgiou, Executive Manager of Pafos Regional Board of Tourism, said: “Pafos region has received 800 wedding bookings through the platform, from the 14 th of March 2017 until today, mainly for 2018 and 2019 but also a few for 2017 and 2020. The district of Pafos is the number one destination so far in bookings through (all town halls combined). One of the reasons, in my opinion, is that Pafos was the first that joined the innovative platform. Also, Pafos, the birthplace of Aphrodite, goddess of love and beauty, is well known as a romantic destination, boasts a beautiful coast, a rich culture and the most mesmerizing sunsets on the island, thus attracting a great number of weddings and honeymooners.”

Spyros Michaelides, Group Operations Manager of Kanika Hotels Ltd, commented on the benefits
of the platform for the hotel industry: “As weddings are one of our main focuses in Kanika Hotels &
Resorts, we are pleased to see how improves the experience of guests dealing with travel associates and town halls, as well as overall administration, by automating the booking confirmation process.”

Founder and Managing Director of the platform, Maria Evripides said: “Having received important
awards in both local and international innovation competitions, while securing strategic partnerships with two of the biggest worldwide tourism giants, TUI UK and Thomas Cook, we continue our journey of growth and contribution to the tourism sector and economy at large. We are proud to have established ourselves in the wedding tourism market of Cyprus and Greece, but also, having succeeded in making our expansion abroad a reality, offering an innovative solution which automates the process of validating a wedding date.”
