Acharavi was once the former community of Agios Panteleimonas and now falls under the municipality of Thinali. The name Acharavi consists of the Greek words Achari Hebe meaning “ungracious life/youth”. Originally it was called Hebe and was an ancient Greek city, thought to be named after the Hebe one of the daughters of Zeus. The village is about 40km or around one hour by road from the airport.

The resort of Acharavi is set on the North coast of Corfu and is the main town for the north of the island. The main road runs through Acharavi and many tavernas, bars and shops are situated here. In the centre is a roundabout called ‘The pump’ and was the site of the old water pump used by the villagers. A number of smaller roads run of the main road towards the beach, where further tavernas and bars can be found.

The beach is made up of sand and singles and is shallow for about 50 metres. Inland from the main road you will find the old village of Acharavi and further inland can be found many beautiful walks, which make up parts of the Corfu trail.
